The Fullest Extent of Love
Jesus washes his disciples feet in this chapter, this was the time that (v. 1) "Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love." The fullness of his love was not a teaching about what's right and what's wrong. The full extent of his love was becoming a servant, being humble, below his disciples.
I remember listening to Stuart Greaves from IHOP and he was talking about how we have to come to understand the fact that Jesus is a servant to us and the form of humility and meekness his love comes in. Peter didn't want Jesus to wash his feet but Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me." Jesus is the ultimate example of humbleness, though a king becomes a servant to all.
